The one on the right is a newer (Gen2 1996-1997) module. The one on the left is an older (Gen1 1994-1995) module. I don't know the exact differences, but it would seem the newer one would be the better choice.

Joe you should be able to go to the Merc parts site below and match it to the distributer you bought. The 5.7 Alpha may not be the right advance curve for you 454, I have the pack chart that Rootsey posted but it does not state which engine the packs apply to. On the site you can do a pretty decent job of finding stuff, I just tried to see what I could find but the site is not responding this morning give it a shot later. It has pictures, numbers etc.

Cuda, look back on the recent thread on advance specs, print and post those here and we'll compare the ramp up rates.

I take it the top piece was the knock sensor module. Here's the ignition module under it.

Jim, I'll see if I can find that thread. I remember the one you are talking about.

I think this is the thread. I don't see any numbers on this chart that correspond to the numbers on these modules.

The advance curves on that other thread are for T-Bolt IV. The module(s) he has are T-Bolt V. They do have an internal base advance curve which the module is constantly altering (Mean Best Timing Spark Advance). I don't think I 've ever seen the base timing curves for these modules published. If it is of any help, here is the list of T-Bolt V modules and applications.
