This is a 16 foot Silver Line Aruba.
In 1970 Wynne was contracted to design this boat for Silver Line.
If you look closely, you will notice that its a Bench Seat. ;)

What are they using all that space behind the bench for? What size power?
I don't think that intake vent on the side, especially on a 16 is a good idea....
Looks like Donzi did the 16 right, every one else is clueless....

Huuuuuummmmmmmmmm
I don't think my boats builder was clueless and it is not a Donzi. If not sure who the builder is ask around son.

Very cool little boat there Formula Jr

Well, this section is about other boats...
I wonder if we could make a list of all the run-a-bouts of this type.
I keep discovering them.
I won't list the obvious Donzis. Or clones.
16 to 19 feet, stern drive, 19-24 degree deadrise, Glass, decked engine compartment, enclosed and relatively long, aggressive, negative or neutral shear bow.
Formula Jr., 17 ('66-'71) Wynne designed
Silver Line Aruba, 17 ('70 - ?) Wynne designed
Unlimited 17s and 19s, though they had a pad.. ('88 - '90?)
Sea Ray Pachanga, 19 ('69 - '71)
Chris Craft XK 19 ('69-'73) Wynne designed - Appearently these came sterndrive also.
Super Nova 19 ('70-'71) Allan Brown. He did say he made a "few" I/O boats.
John Allmand "jumper" 19. ('70-?)
Can anyone think of others. The first four examples fit best the style of boats I'm thinking of. Especially, low freeboard, pronounced bows , helm at (or behind) mid-ships, and completely decked engine compartments, ie, no dog houses.

20' Bertram Baron fits the bill.

Jim Wynne also did a series of three sport runabouts for Crestliner sometime in the early 70's.
There was a 17 footer avbl with stern drive and outboard and a 19 and a 24 footer only in sterndrive.
They were all 24 degree hulls with far better than average freeboard and very flared hulls at the bow.
They represented Crestliner's flagship fleet at the time .
I ran a 19 and a 24 for many years and I have yet to find any better performing hulls , and that includes either the Mag or the Donzi that I would never part with .

Vrod found another also. I made the pic a little more loadable - dialup. :)

Monza 19, dates?, Designer - Harry Schoell.

I want to collect these all up in one thread.
And I can already see where this excercise will
be informative. Look at the Monza 19 closely
and then look at the Z-21, also a Schoell boat.
We all consider the Aronow boats to be relatives,
yet, we could also expand that to see that
if you follow the designers across various makers
there is a crisscross of influences and style.

I'm fighting the urge to include 20 footers,
or boats with dog houses, to keep the
criteria tight to find boats that were directly targeted at the
Donzi 16-18 market but were not copies.

I can't find anything on the glass Wynne Crestliners. Plenty of metal Crestliner boats though.
But if Wynne did design an aluminum 19 foot offshore Stern Drive
deep vee for the public, that would be something to find!!!

I guess I should have included it the first time ... duhhh
The Crestliners were called the 'Crusader' series ..
I did a search yesterday and found a huge 2nd hand Crestliner site.. I found one or two before I had to run.
I doubt the 24 footer falls into your search criteria but the 17 and 19 are borderline...
If I was a bit more computer literate I would link/post the stuff.

I too, am a big fan of "Donzi-esque" sportboats. Naturally, some are better than others. Some are really cool. I remember spending lots of time as a kid staring at pictures of a yellow Pachanga in an old Sea Ray catalog.
Lemme dig in my archives for some pics.

Here's a Sutphen that I think was the inspiration for the Four Winns U-boats.

Chris Craft Lancer, a Wynne boat. Straight inboard, I/O, and, for a short period, v-drive with Holman Moody power. I want an inboard model.

I picked this aruba up last year. and in the process of restoring it. Replaced the stringers and floor, and installed a V6 mercruiser and alpha. Do you have any history on this boat or pictures. not sure how the front seat tub and back seats fit together. Thanks
