I have a 1990 F-23 walkaround. I am installing battery box's and the old owner had about 6 wires connected direct to the terminals.
I am trying to isolate one battery for cranking and one for accessories but it looks like a mess. Is there any thing wrong with running one + and - lead to busbars about 8" behind the battery? Also is there anything to be gained by using the Bluesea DualBus Plus which has a cover or a plain bar with a coating of electric grease?
Thanks

Any suggestions on the gauge of the wire from the battery to the bar?

Use #10 overkill is a good thing you may want to add to it down the road, also fuse the positive leg to the bus bar. A nice but a little messy product to protect the block is one of the battery protector spays Pro Clean and Wurth make really good products.

If you mount your busbars 8" from the battery, voltage drop won't be an issue. Use 8 or even 6 gauge wire, it's not that hard to work with, and you'll eliminate any need for calculations.
