For the last 4 days it takes between 30 and 40 seconds to open EVERY page I go to on the net, if it opens at all. I have a fast machine and high speed connection. Connection is fine, and computer runs any other program just fine and fast as hell. But it seems like IE is focked up or something. I run Ad Aware and Spybot...... nuttin there. Have firewalls, and Norton on and I don't surf porn sites. Basically a few forums and ESPN and CNN.

I'm starting to get pretty pissed off.... anyone have any ideas why IE is bogged the fock down? When I click "Reply to thread" in the past, new page would open almost instantly, as would any link or page I clicked. Now it's a PITA!!!

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!:fire: :fire: :fire:

The internet as a whole has been VERY slow up this way for a few weeks now. It's like I get no attention from my ISP. I use both cable and DSL with the same results. I thought it was just me...

Here is my guess.

It's either IE is hosed and screwed up itself, you have a 3rd party POS addware/virus/spyware running that you don't know about, or your internect connection is way ass slow for.

http://www.speed-test.net/
Click on this to test both your upload and download speed. When you get to this website, pick the down arrow under test speed and choose 200. Run it both for download and upload. This will tell you if your internet connection is in the crapper or not. Word of warning - only 1 test per day with these guys.

Make sure you install ALL OF THE updates for ad-aware, Microsuck Windows and your antivirus.

Install firefox browser for the time being and see how that works for ya.

If firefox is slow also, your connection is bad or Windows has a problem. You can always reinstall windows also to try and fix things.

Run the following...

SPYBOT what eversion? Make sure you do all the updates and immunize. Full scan!

Microsoft spyware, Free runs great.

Empty your IE Temp files on exit. Under settings advanced.

What Virus program are you running?

Scott and Scott, All good advice here. These bugs are hard to get rid of sometimes.

First read this thread and run the 3 programs. All free and they are kept current within a week or so.

Also, UPDATE XP. There is a new virus that is embedded in graphics exploits a hole in MS.

Next, start in safe mode and run msconfig and look at the startup tab for anything weird. If you don't know what weird is, Google the name and see if it's something you have.

Still have it?

and be carefull. If you have questions email the log file to me.

Sometimes they have to be removed manually, so write down anything unusual (names, locations etc). The more information you get about it the better. Then give me a call and I'll walk you through the removal.
