The North/East Donzi Club is pleased to announce the dates for the fourth annual Sound of Thunder 1000 Islands Donzi Run.
The dates this year will be July 13-16 2006, with most of the structured activities taking place on the Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
I will be posting a formal agenda ASAHFO.
Our base hotel will once again be the Edgewood resort... www.theedgewoodresort.com ... 1-888-EDGEWOOD (33439663), ask for Janine, or Cathy. The hotel has blocked us off a great bunch of rooms. They are operating a scaled down winter schedule, so you may not get someone right away, but they will phone back quickly.
They are also in the process of rebuilding some of the older docks, and adding some new ones, and they have given me their dock layout, so I will be able to co-ordinate all of our docking requirements, just give Cathy the length of your boat when you book, and we will get everyone tied up safe and sound.
The weather in July in this part of the world is fantastic, and Alexandria Bay ..... www.alexbay.org .... will be in full summer season swing.
Anybody who is traveling from west of the 1000 Islands, and is planning on continuing to Winni, I will have secure storage at a marina available on the Canadian side.
I'll be adding information to this post as things firm up, but some of the Southern contingent were looking for some dates, so here they are.
Fire away with the questions, I'll answer everything I can....

Di,
Make room in the driveway please. There will be NO spare key however :) :)

That's Okay. Rasta's going to hammer in a screwdriver, and start the truck with a pair of Vice-Grips.......

:wavey: Who will win the coveted "Golden Shim Awards" this year?

Who will attempt to actually have an agenda?

Will Phil actually pay market price for absolutely anything including a drink? :banghead:

We doubt it.... come one come all to the Castles in the River Lawrence, and test your navigation skills and tolerence for senility! :rlol:

There is always an agenda, but it changes hourly, and it's only distributed on a need to know basis..... :D

Just ask the Sound of Thunder Sgt at Arms, his boat is easy to find, it's usually tied sideways in a slip, and his registration numbers end in F.U. :stan: :cartman:

one question...

Will someone please tell me if I'm going UP river or DOWN river this year?
And this isn't a rhetorical question!

Poodle,
Never mind Senor Boxma's avatar...... Are you coming up this year or what?

Rasta needs a part time job "detailing" trucks and boats.

Poodle,
Which other Notheast events are you planning to attend?

Rasta needs to hone his valet skills........

Thats a really ugly fooot n leg in your avatar Boxy.. What, was the guy a gimp or something? :D :D

..... I'm not sure what was going on there, something about the exhaust pipes on his wife's Harley being on the opposite side of the exhaust on his Vespa, and losing traction with his flip-flops..... :D :D

I've been hibernating for 9 months. I'll be there this year and I WILL not be leaving early, (at least at this point in time). I enjoyed the time I spent with members up there last year, and I wish I could have stayed longer. This year I will do my best to be there start to finish. Tough guarantee when its this far out, and pathetic considering I live 1.5 hrs away and my 22 lives in the islands, literally!! I do look very forward to this event!!! Come one come all!!Those of you who have never visited the 1000 Islands, you truly have a great opportunity to meet wonderful people, in one of the most beautiful places to boat in North America. Course I am extremely biased;)

Spoke to Janine today, the Edgewood is up and running again for the season. They have rebuilt/restored some of the docks that we didn't use last year, so there is lots of room this year. She is looking forward to hosting us again this year.
Keep an eye open for pics of the Resort, and Dinner annoucements soon... :D

I think most people arrive on sometime Thursday, but there's more than enough water to keep you interested for as long as you want to stay.....

Hey MI guys, what does it say for the great State of Michigan, the self proclaimed fresh water boating State of the Grand Ol USA, when there are more guys CONFIRMED from FLA than there are from MI.....

Get on it.....

Charles, just got in from work, and just heading out for some steak and ale, I'll shoot you the answers to your PM later, but don't worry, it's all good, and it's all taken care of.....

currently feverishly working on the agenda

But staying at Monte's place this year, so you have one from Michigan.

I'Il work on my Ann Arbor neighbors, Carl and AIr Patti when we see them over the weekend. They get up there for Pirate's Weekend normally, but we all know there is more going on during our weekend!

Also, I contines to hear rumbles form DonCig and TxTaz. Book your rooms gentlemen!

I was thinking of dropping me baby in Gananoque Sat. morning. Was wondering when and where all the Donzi's will be going? I am going to see if I can hook up, if I know where the boat ride is heading!

If the weather holds, and we don't get the same West wind we had over the long weekend, the plan for Saturday is to run up the Canadian channel, duck into Ivy Lea to avoid the first slow zone, cruise by Gan, head into the Bateau Channel, run to Kingston, cruise around the Fort, head back down River, if the 40 acres looks flat, run it to Potter's Beach, if it is kicking, we will run the Channel back to Gan, then head to Potter's. We are going to hang at Potter's, eat lunch, tell lies, and swap boat rides for awhile, then head to the hotel for dinner.

That is just a loose idea, and in no way should this fileable float plan be construed as any type of agenda...... :D

I just talked to Monte and he agreed to hop in our boat and play navigator on Friday morning, so we can get off the docks and get on the water!

Figure between 9 and 10 at the Edgewater Docks...

No agenda here, other than to run the boats a bunch on Friday AND Saturday.

See ya there!
