Don't know anything about the frozen stuff, but we had a lady salesperson who used to work for "Airboat World Magazine" selling add space and writing. She told us of attending and covering events where they would have acceleration runs, many of which would result in speeds in excess of 100 MPH..............................................

in 50 feet!!!   :fire:
She said they used to run longer distances, but the boats would regularly blow over.

It reads 138 mph but it took 2000ft to get it their because of the slippery stuff under the sled.(ice)

I used to race 1000 foot drag on bare ice (no snow) in a stock 600cc sled - ran 93-96mph typically. Again this is 1/2 the distance - only 1000 feet. Top speed on this sled is around 110-115mph. I've driven a stock 1000cc Arcticat Wildcat and it would go 130mph no problem. And yep it's on snow or ice, didn't matter.

This is Wisconsin in the summertime - lots of fun!
In reality, you can buy one of these hot sleds for 5-10K preowned, run em on asphalt, beat most cars at the 1/4 mile track. Lots of fun, easy to work on them, and very inexpensive for 1/4 mile asphalt racing. Horsepower to weight ratio is 250-300hp in a sled that weighs 550-650lbs.

I've never seen anyone wipe out on a drag sled. This I'm sure would be very ugly.
