Ok all you college football fans who have been awaiting the annual Bowl games. I've set up a group using the ESPN Fantasy page. If your not already a member, you'll be asked to register. Then follow these steps:
1. Click on Fantasy Games
2. Select College Bowl Mania - http://games.espn.go.com/bowlmania/frontpage You can create up to 3 teams under 1 registration. So, if you'd like a little in house compitition, you could ask your family members to join you also or if your not that confident in your picks, add 2 more teams and chances for the winnings.
3. Create a name for your team
4. Join our group by looking for the name Donzi in the private listings
5. You'll be asked for a password which of course is: donzi
6. Make your selections for each game by first, which team you think will win and second give that team a confidence rating. In other words, How much do you believe the team you picked will actually win.
7. Sit back and enjoy the College Bowl games beginning 12/20/05

The midwest Donzi Club will again this year sponsor our game by offering prizes for the top 3 players. 1st will receive $100, 2nd will receive $50 and third will receive $25 to do with whatever you would like.
It doesn't cost you a cent, so even if you have no interest in college ball, join the fun and who knows, you could have bragging rights for a year and a few extra dollars in your pocket.
Good Luck everyone! May your college team pull out a win. Go Bucks!

Last chance. Where are all those Florida teams fans? How about you Georgia fans, Michigan, Texas, Southern Cal? Nothing to loose, create a team and pick or go eene meene miine moe.

BTW, if one person having 3 teams is scaring you away, that person will only win one prize if one of the teams finish in the top 3.

We still have 2 undefeated teams through 4 games. Just wish I had turned my point system around with the first games having more points than the later games. We'll see if Tony can be caught in the later games.

Only 1 bowl game today starting at 8pm est.

Scott, I was not too scientific with my picks, I had the spreads in front of me and weighted the games with the biggest spread the heaviest. Of course I sometimes picked with my heart instead of my head, like always picking Big Ten teams...except U-M who usually seem to lose in bowl games!

After the 5th bowl game last night, the standings are:

1. The Izzone - T. Sporer at 4-1 and 79 points

One game starting at 8:30pm est. tonight. So, while waiting to greet Santa, take a break and watch the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl. So far, so good with yours truely remaining the only undefeated team. Doesn't mean much at this point due to the point system. Hoping my luck continues, but no one is out of contention.

Tony has built up a nice point lead and again has the best win record.

1. The Izzone - T. Sporer at 6-1 and 111 points
2. Thunder 2 - D. Boldt at 5-2 and 25 points
3. Thunder 3 - D. Boldt at 4-3 and 17 points

2 games today starting at 5:00pm est. Today is also your last chance to make any last minute changes to your team picks. Hummmmm, do I pick Texas and hope for a prayer of them beating USC to catch Tony? Ohio State pulled one out against Miami a couple years ago when the sportcasters said there would be no beating them...... So many weapons on the Southern Cal team.

Interesting game last night. I guess Nebraska wanted it more than U of M. We'll leave the referees out of it, but I'll bet there is a lot of talk around the water coolers of Michigan this morning.

2 games today starting at 4:30pm est.

What a crazy Nebraska vs. U-M game, and what a wild finish! Of course it reminded some of the Stanford "band" game. If the U-M lineman had scored...holy cow, what a play! Also, did you notice that right behind the lumbering lineman with the ball was Breaston? If the big guy had given it to Breaston...my guess is that it would have been 6 points!

Oh well, I am glad even though I'm from Michigan. I am the type of MSU fan that roots for the Spartans, and whoever is playing against U-M! They finished this year at 7-5, and have lost 3 bowl games in a row. I would hate to see Lloyd Carr leave, since he is the only thing that keeps U-M from true greatness. Every year the get a top 3 in the nation recruiting class, and then proceed to dramatically underacheive. Their #1 stated goal each year is to win the Big Ten...instead of having national championship aspirations.

Thanks for organizing this, Scott, it's kind of too bad more poeple didn't sign up. Although I'll probably regret counting my chickens too early, if I do win I will donate any prize back to the Registry and the Mid-West Donzi Club, fifty-fifty.

6. Lightfoot - T. Boldt at 7-6 and 41 points
7. Claw's X-18's - W. Holtzclaw at 5-8 and 34 points

Wow, it's almost been a jinx to take the favored team this year. Now watch, I didn't take the Big 10 team Northwestern and they'll probably win.

4 games today starting at 12:00pm est. on ESPN. 2pm, CBS throws a game in and then back to ESPN the rest of the night ending with what looks like might be a great game between Miami and LSU. Ranked 9 & 10 respectivly, should be a barn burner of offense.

Tony, thank-you for your offer to donate your winnings back to the Registry and the Club. I too, if I hold on to a winning position, will do the same. Yes, I wish we had gotten some more participation, but it's OK. The games have really been good so far. They haven't been all blow outs in the favored teams favor. Where the heck did Utah come from?

Tony
12-30-2005, 10:45 AM
Scott, did you see that QB from Arizona State throw the ball? Man, he was dead on accurate, and playing hurt with all the blitzes and sacks, but he still brought them back and won the game...plus he is a freshman! I think his last name was Carpenter.

Sorry to anyone from Idaho (do we have anyone from Idaho on this board???), but I just about puke every time I see a game on that dog-ugly blue field!

7. Scott's picks - S. Boldt at 10-7 and 70 points

Another day for the underdogs! Thank-you UCLA for holding up 1 win for me. Poddle, where was Miamuh? I guess you all are in a rebuilding year? I didn't get to watch much of the games yesterday and when I saw the scores, I was partially glad I didn't sit through that aggony. Oh well, what wasn't good for me, was obviously better for other teams with Claw's X-18s making the biggest jump in the standings.

3 games today starting at 11am est. on ESPN2. Good luck everyone!

No games being played today, but we're down to the final 8 Bowl games. Starting at 11am on Monday with 5 games being played. Things are still tight in the runnings. Just a matter of who picked the winning teams and how many points are on the games as the bottom 5 teams all have a possibility of 196 points still to gain if their picks win. Tony has been holding tuff through out the contest and has 121 points still available to him.

Holy moly, there goes my big lead!

That's what I get for picking Big Ten teams, although OSU sure looked good, as did Wisconsin. Iowa, though, got robbed after recovering the late onside kick...then getting called for a phantom offsides.

Well, I think I picked Penn State and USC, but don't remember how many "weight" points I gave those games. I guess I'm hangin' in there by the skin of my teeth!
