Does anybody know this boat? Dealer claims 500 hp and 85 mph!

Engine?
Outdrive?
I like the yellow, and the interior upholstery...not too fond of the horn, carpet color, or the extra grab rails.

Will 500 HP push a 22 to 85 MPH? The drive looks like an Alpha SS which would help with the speed but can it handle 500 HP pushing a 22?

Speedmaster could be right. Not used to seeing them painted. Nice looking though.

:shark: Looks like a nose cone to me. It is hard to tell what that drive is by the picture. I don't believe it is a Speed Master.

Gaak, the blue carpets remind me of that other University. Your Spartan son would NEVER forgive you. The carpet, horns and rails are easily rectified.

HP and speed claims are dubious, though.

Well-spotted, Randy!

Interesting boat, but as usual the hitch is that I would like to sell my Ski Sporter before pursuing another Donzi. Therein lies a problem, part monetary and part emotional!

I seriously doubt it does 85 w/ 500 hp. Have them knock off $1000 for every mph below 85!! :shocking:
That drive looks like a trs to me.

Tony ............

I've got a Dustoff Video layin around here somewhere, with that boat doing a high speed drive by ........

It also shows the previous owner, giving a full description of the boat & motor, with performance figures ......

I'm assuming it's the year it won in compitition .......... She really cook's on the video .......

Check with the Lake George Boy's about the video .......... They may still have one layin around somewhere ........

Not to get of subject, but here’s an interesting first post. How about some details on that convertible Cutlass?

It's a TRS drive

I remember the boat, the name on the back was "Proceed with Caution". It was yellow and honey in color and 85mph probably isn't too far from the truth. If I remember correctly it was a carberated HP500 that had alot of custom work done on it.

And it was FAST.

If that is Doug Smith's old boat, I believe it is, then it is a TRS drive with nose cone and tranny, single ram hydraulic steering and a juiced engine. It is not a stock HP500. 83mph was the top end back when he owned it.

I am not sure what the last owner did with it but when Doug had it the boat was set up well. The 502 had GM aluminum heads with titanium and inconel valves 10:1 cr to run 89 pump crane roller-731 cam gill offshores (LOUD), and it was probably more like 500 at the prop. Full latham single ram steering. Reliable too with the Borg Warner trans and TRS with the hydromotive nose cone. I think that all four owners had kept it in boathouses. I am sure that it will probably do 85 on the speedo, 5600 rpms with a 25 mirage if I remember correctly.

I would really like to see more pictures of this boat. I have a good friend that is interested. If anyone has any additional pictures could they email them to me andy@taper.com. Thanks for all your help in advance.
