Don,
I've been thinking about doing Crab Island sometime and also the Emerald Coast Poker Run. We're over in Gulf Breeze and have a 22 classic. There are a few board members in Pensacola and one in Mobile as follows..

DavidO - X18
ZIMM17 (Greg) 22 Classic
Barry Eller 22 Classic
GeneS - X18
Stuart - 18 Classic
Apollo24 (Ben in Mobile) X18

Shoot me a PM sometime,
Dan

its a beautiful place... when the tide is coming in... the water is clean and clear.. you can see the bottom at 20+feet. it gets crowded. More so than Hooters on the island (Pensacola).
the poker run is a blast... like 500 boats last year. BIG BOYS too.
one of my crew got 4th place... $6,500 cash.
there are a couple of classics that frequent the island.
we run a 28ZX (Green on White with the Gold "Donzi" across the windscreen)

lots of Donzi's in the Poker Run...

A good friend of mines parents live in FWB on N***** bayou and we spent allot of time there back in college. Free use of the Chaparell bowrider and steak diners at Coach and Four on Dad were pretty tempting to broke college students living in Mobile on Roman noodles! The Destin boating scene was always fun and an easy run from FWB. I haven't done much boating there in the last few years.

Do you you think a 22 classic is large enough to do the poker run with?

an open bow boat might be a bit tricky if the waves are big.
if the wind is up... but you know that.
as for hanging with them... no big deal, you end up waiting in lines at the stops to get your cards punched... and hang out and watch the crowds.

there is a $475 entry fee, but its for everything, catered meals for 4 and a bunch of stuff in the captains bag... its for a charity.

its a fun time, there were pontoon boats doing the run... so YES, not a problem.

come join the fun.
