I have a 1999 22' Classic which has white hull with a black stripe. The hull is perfect but the stripe has faded alittle in 2 spots and it bugs me. Is the fix as simple as having it repainted or is this a gel coat issue? Has anyone else had experience with this? Am I better off to leave it alone or try to do something about it. The boat is so beautiful that I want this to be perfect too.
Thanks

It is gell unless someone painted it later. Do a search on this board. You can buff / rub the gloss back with many products
Here is another '99 - the stripes fade with time. Takes elbow grease to bring them back

Original is gel but paint in dark colors always seems to hold up much better, I would shot with Imron or Sterling both hold color very well.

Paint it with Imron.

First try to buff it at a vary slow speed with alot of pressure with comit kitchen clenser this will take the fading out then buff it with a fine compound like 3m perfert it part #05933 then follow it with 3m perfect it foam polishing pad glaze part 305966...if this dont do the trick then paint it wirh imron or awgrip which is used on ocean liners...
p.s. if you buff it with a high speed it will just haze up

OK, buffing it is. RedDod, what did you use? That looks beautiful.
Thanks everyone.
