How many squirts

Merc Magnum 350 carbuerated.

How many squirts of the acclerator pump do you give before trying to start?

It depends on the temp,mine usually 1...

I don't have a Mag, I have a 383 with a 750 Holley. I squirt cold none warm, more then 2-3 either the accelrator pump is on its way out or choke is not set right. If you have to pump it when warm the the pump is usualy going.

when mine sits for say up to a week she takes a few cranks to get breathing.
once she been running she starts pretty quickly>

Mine stays moored on the lake for four months. I use it at least four to five days per week. It takes usually takes one squirt to make it turn over. It has 260 hours, completely stock, 1987 350 magnum.

Mine can sit for a few weeks and still start extremely fast with just one pump, I re kit my carbs at about 200 hours or 2 years. I don't like waitng for it not to start right, I am also running a very hot coil with Tbolt IV.

2.5 on my 454's if it's sat a while. Once if it's been run in the last week.

Don't ask how many in the Minx. I've been trying to get it started for a week! I did get it to fire yesterday, and the engine about ran way with me! I guess it was from all the gas I had been pumping each time. I pulled the plugs yesterday, and they all smelled like raw gas. :(

sounds like your float levels may be set too high......or you may have too big of primary squirters in the carb.....ot a tear in the power valve in the diaphram...does it load up at idel???

there are 3 accelarator pump positions on the edelbrocks.
the inner most position pumps the least , the outer pumps the most.
