Since it has a knock module (the one on top) it is a Thunderbolt V. Looks like a Gen 1 or 2 version.

Will it directly replace the old points type distributor?

Joe if you stick with Tbolt IV it is super simple to hook up, with the late unit you will need to do some harness wiring work. The IV is basicly a one wire hookup as far as powering it, the rest of the wires run between the pack and distributor. I may have what you need have to check in the stash!

I just won the one pictured on ebay. I hope it will work.

It will work fine and one great buy, try to find the harness plug that plugs into it that will make wiring it easier. You will only use purple ingnition, grey tach and black ground. Ask Poodle to check the number to find out top timing, A little extra effort but should be trouble free for a very long time.

What MOP said, I switched mine a few years ago in an effort to get around the rev limiter :rlol:.
Good Luck

the difference between the TBolt IV and V wiring is that little pigtail that hooks into the module... a TBolt IV module will bolt to the V distributor since they are the same, just different "brains". The pigtail cost me something like 60 or 70 bucks when i made the swap a few years back... i still MAY have the Tbolt V pigtail and old module... unless i tossed it... if you can wait a few days i can find out... unless you are dead set on going to a IV setup then a new module and the pigtail will be in order and that'll be oh bout 300 bones altogether...
