I have a question that may seem basic to some. I am just getting back into boating after 10 years. I recenyly purchased a 1989 Donzi Regazza 19. The bottom of the hull and some areas of the transom have gouges and some scrapes. I have already filled most of them with marine epoxy. What is the best way to re-coat the hull after sanding. Do I apply bottom paint or should I re-gel coat? The boats in storage until April (the joy of living in the midwest)

The most sanitary and apealing way is to re-gel.
I'm getting ready to do that myself.

Gelcoat would look nice, but there's no reason to go through the gelcoating if you're just going to cover it all with anti-fouling paint anyway....

After much research I chose VC performance epoxy. Very happy with the results!

I sprayed with HVLP system. Came out great. Very strong. In many ways, better than gelcoat unless you need to match exsisting color on a solid color hull.
