Transom Holes Alpha Bravo ?

I was measuring my transom and have discovered the following.
The boat cam from Donzi as a Bravo drive, so why are the exhaust holes in the transom cut to the Alpha dimensions?

12.102" from the cranshaft centerline for Alpha versus 13.664" for Bravo.
24.203" center of exhaust tips on Alpha, 27.328" on Bravo.

Inquiring mind wants to know.

thay cut the exhaust holes according to the power plant thay use,,small block verses big block...gen 1 gen 2 etc....their all differant..
