Don't see it posted here anyway. Anyway, looks like a STEAL (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4586795758) to me! Wish I had a spare 12 grand! :banghead:

Damn, I wish I hadn't opened this thread! It's only about 20 miles from me. It looks like it's really been well cared for. Hmmmmm.............

Looks like a good deal.

His last auction for this boat ended at $11595 and he had lowered the reserve to $11596. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/22-Donzi-Time-Capsule-from-1982_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ31271QQitemZ458482 8746QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

His current ad says he'll take $11595 for it. I haven't seen a 22' in this condition sell any lower...

I always think if a guy goes throught the expense of a full sided cover, he's probably taken good care of everything. Definetly a nice boat at a great price.

Isn't this the same exact boat that was being dissed by a bunch of people here a couple of weeks ago? Rememer the time capsule 130K savings thread?Ya I new you would remember! Now that the ebay ad has changed, magically this is now a beautiful deal even though the asking price is about the same. You guys crack me up! :rlol:

Hey anyone out there selling a boat, hell selling anything, don't take the comments personally. Remember opinions are like buttholes, almost everyone has one. All it takes is one buyer to sell your wares. Keep looking for that one buyer. Youll forget about all the other no sale answers real fast.

I don't recall seeing the full price, I DO recall seeing the $130,000 numbered being bantied around. Once I saw that, I probably didn't bother looking for the price.

Cuda, that thing has your name written ALL over it.... get rid of the F20 and Checkmate and your in the seat...

with a TRS and the more forward engine position, and battery under the rear seat, the ride will be as good as Budmann's small block boat... maybe that's why there are no trim tabs  you can get the IMCO manifolds, risers and S-pipes though for that setup..

the IB log manifolds are correct for the lower position outlets on the transom too...

LOT'S of potential for a great boat for someone...

Jim, would a 496 bolt right in, or would there be issues? I read in the guys questions that he is looking to move to a bigger boat. I wonder if a 302 Formula would suit him. I already sent him an email to find out. :)

Jim, did you see anything out of sorts in the engine compartment?

Joel, no one dissed the boat itself. We were having a discussion about the owner's thought that you could save $130,000 by buying his boat. Once he realized that a new 22 didn't cost $140,000 he corrected his ad content.
Re-read the thread again, and relax, no one here had anything negative to say about the boat.

Oh yeah, ya's need's an aluminum trailer too.

Cuda, we went over & took a look at this last week. If we can help with any questions on it give us a hollar. We have interest in it also but have a few questions on how the trs drive and trans normally hold up and how hard they are to work on and get parts for? Tom & Rose 256-777-0844 or mishunaire@aol.com

Rose, what was your overall impression of the boat? I dreamed all last night about the buttery smooth shifting of a TRS (not that I've ever shifted one :) )

Jim, that's one of the things that makes me believe it is a freshwater boat. That trailer would be a pile of rust by now, with just a few salt dunkings.

Would rather answer that question one on one instead of in a forum setting. Anyone interested needs to see it in person or have someone give them a good condition report on it first. Rose

Hey Cuda...reserve's lowered to $8501.00. Next bid. How can you lose? The one thing you don't get is the new boat smell/warranty. Hmmm, maybe you need to look at something newer; you don't need another project. :biggrin.:

he revised the post to say it needs the trans rebuildt
That sucks, but still, with A Mercruiser Trans costing 2800.00, at that reserve, still seems like a pretty good deal, I'm sure you could finds a trans for less, or rebuild yourself for ALOT less.

http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show_Pictures3.asp?dnbr=%2086187&ivar=images/CRUISER/86187/81.png&inbr=1059&bnbr=43&bdesc=TRANSMISSION+AND+RELATED+PARTS+%28M0081%2DS1 0%29

BUT, what bothers me is the fact he revised his post and added it, did he just find out or something?

Wayne

Just saw he got a qoute to have rebuilt for $1500.00 - so, 10k, still not a bad deal - with a little work.

What's wrong with you people...

Someone just buy this damn thing, it's tooo good a deal to pass up.

I absolutely love my MercTrans in my Critter. I had Matt at TNT do mine. I heard horror story after story.... done right, they are awesome. If it's that trashed, you slide a BW72 in there, move the engine forward a tad, and go boating...

Geez.

Cuda, were you able to run the engine? or sea trial it? or is the tranny that dead? did you check the drive oil condition? is the tranny fluid full and clean on the dipstick? the Merc tranny uses ONLY Type F or FA fluid, never use Dextron.... sell the Minx and the F20, ya's got yourself a boat now... those little 330's will surprise ya. My 330 actually ran within 2 mph of my new 425hp engine...

Jim, I didn't try to start the engine, or really check anything mechanical. The boat is in such good condition, I figure I can live with anything under the hatch that's bad.

Overall, it's in near the condition of you Critter was when I first saw it, except the hatch needs some major work. Apparently, someone had a blower motor or something in it, and they put a scoop on it. I think because of the hole for the scoop, the whole hatch has a big dip in it. That's the major thing wrong with it I've seen. There is also a crack in the floor right by the rear seat. It looks like something heavy was dropped there. Probably during the engine swap. The seats look like brand new/ There is two wear spots on the side coaming where the throttle is. I'm hoping there is not unseen problems with the engine and drive. Prepare for the worse, and hope for the best.

Will do. I probably won't uncover it until tomorrow. It's a job and a half putting that cover on. It's a great cover too, fits snug as hell.

Congratulations Joe.
You finally got a real Classic.
The crack in the floor is probably where the tub sits on the stringers. They all do that in those years. Look at some of my early posts.
When you pull the deck off to change the tank, I'll help you fix it.

Mark or Polly, could you email me the pics of the Corsican in Pt. Roberts that disappeared last week? I will be there this weekend on my way to Key West and would LOVE to find the home and the boat.

Believe me, this place (Town) is sooo tiny that I could find that boat before lunch...
