View Full Version : HP loss due to low voltage

The last time I took the Ragazza out, I noticed that voltage was running pretty darn low (9.5-10v) (actually kinda surprised I got it started, and that it kept running). Anyway, I noticed that on the low end, it seemed real sluggish. Is it possible (running a Pertronix electronic ignition), that I saw a drop in power due to the low voltage?
Turns out the alternator was bad, replaced it, now running my normal 13v
Thanks

A weak battery will rob the juice the system needs and slowly kill performance, many of the systems will not function at all under 8 volts.

Well, I was going to swap my prop before taking the boat out next weekend, but I think I'll leave it on for now, and see if the problem gets any better with the new alternator.
I'll take my other props with me, for testing, then sell the ones I don't use,... seems I might be having a cause to spend some money soon
