can possibly get a pair of volvo speedmasters with props for 3000.00 maybe less. Ive heard they are somewhat rare ..good for older boat restos. I dont need them but figured if somebody was looking for some..is this a fair price? any interest? Im a member at offshore only.but thought id post it here im going to look at..maybe buy them tommorow

Definately interested. Parts are impossible etc. Rare to start with, and that was 30 years ago... :(

By chance are these drives on the South Shore of Mass. out of a Magnum express cruiser? I recall looking at a pair about 3 years ago from a guy who was selling the hull stipped and had a basement full of parts-- E drives hydraulic pumps & engine parts??

You want to look on the prop shaft cap for numbers that tell you the gear ratio 1.18:1, 1.26, 1.41, 1.45. Mine are 1.41:1 came out of a Doral with 302s.
What is the spline on the prop shaft? Mine are 15 spline, takes a mercury racing prop.
What type of props, mine are supposedly mercury racing 12x26. One left one right.
I think you can get bearings and seals but gears and shafts you are going to the machine shop and if you ( heaven forbid) do in the housing I hope you sell me what's left for parts.
I have part's list and daigrams that I'd be happy to share.
Are you buying just the lower units and props, or the whole leg, perchance the transom plate maybe even a complete pair of 280TEs with power trim and tilt. Sorry I digress, but that would be a nice find.

finally met up with the guy today.Not too happy when i went to back of boat and saw 280's with nosecones.The guy was very appologetic..said the person he bought boat from said they were speedmasters very rare.etc etc.He bought the boat with no power is going to put outboards on.Sorry if i got anybodys hopes up..next time ill keep my big mouth shut until i actually see them.But i did ask him on phone.."the bullet is very small in diameter ..like 2.5 inches and very pointy right?" and he said yes..but anyway ..sorry

after i saw they werent e-drives..i stopped looking :frown:
