well, fall is here and yesterday might have been the last nice day in bc for a few weeks. took out the aronow and really had her dialed in. 75.1 mph gps at 5150 rpm's. (this is a stock boat) if i am getting that kind of rpm's should i be looking at a bigger prop???? anyway i was flying and took some pristine photos. for those of you not familiar w/ british columbia here a few snaps.

Very nice pics Steve. A 496 Mag Ho, and 5150. You got the speed alright, and if the day was that calm then you did real good. It (rpms) might be a tad high, but I do NOT know. No comment.

But, note the screws on your scoop in that pic. Someone was as anal as me and made sure all the screw heads were straight up when tightening :D

Attention to detail, it is worth a lot.

I will be in Vanc on Wednesday (12th) if anyones around.

i'm leaving on the 12th for a shoot in san fran. i think it is going to be raining the next few weeks anyway. would like to have hooked up for a beer. i thought 5000 was max but i looked down and saw it above 5000 think it was close to 5150. should i get a bigger prop (26P) right now running stock mirage plus 25P.

Those #'s are exactly right on for a 496HO truning a 25P Mirage +.....nice job..... those are the numbers you can expect with the cooler water temps and weather temps..... nice job.

5200 is where you feel the rev limiter kick in......

Before you play with props make sure your tach is accurate.

Great Pictures. Sharp looking 22. Dual Stripes & Hood scoop. One of the fastest stock 22's. Thanks

With the slip Calculations, and all the other speeds posted, as well as my GPS, RPM's, you need to be at, or very close to the rev limiter with that prop to see 75, your on it.

I only ran into a problem when using the IMCO shorty, then had to change props. The speeds you have hit, and the RPM are perfect, as well as the prop. Enjoy!

BTW, I assume one person, and low on fuel?

Lookin' good, Blue. My best is 73.3 @ 4,900. Maybe I'll hit 75 when the air gets cooler and drier.

If your lookin to try a prop for a spare, Give a Turbo1 25" a try. You may even see a bit more speed because even though your not changing the pitch, the prop has been proven on a number of 22 Classics to be more efficent. In fact, you may even have to drop to a 24" pitch to keep your rpms at 5100. Worked for me

Must be that cool Canadian air, your right on, a strong runner.
By the way I can see where the inspiration for the 22GT, recently unveiled at the dealers meeting in Miami came from, except I like the color of your boat better, still reminds me of a water born Shelby GT. Very cool.

Blueliner, chance are your tach is on the money, in my opinion that's within 50 rpm regardless of what tach you use. To answer your question though you can use a hand held tach. If you wanted to purchase one you can find them for under a $100.00 (U.S.). I think George Carter picked up a digital one on E-Bay a while back for around $60.00.
