My new toy is awesome. I finally got rid of the Suburban, and bought a dually. The 'burb was great, but lacked fuel economy while towing my other toys. Being a 454, the 'burb really never got better than 8mpg towing, and rarely got 12 empty.
So, I went with the Lemmings and did the employee pricing thing with my new K3500 crew cab dually. The Duramax is a stout engine. and tows my stuff with ease. It is still being broken in, but fuel economy is about 12 towing, and 17 around town,,
We recently went to Monteagle, TN with my jeep ( Labor Day weekend) and the new truck towed so well, I forgot how much it cost me..
I am counting the days 'till Sarasota, so I can tow my boat without having to worry about stopping every 250 miles for fuel. My plans are to fill my 50 gal. spare tank in St. Marys, Ga, so I hopefully won't have to buy fuel in Fla. I figure if I top off in Ga, I will have enough fuel to get to Sarasota, then transfer fuel into my main tank for the ride back to Ga.
I'm hoping Scott will give me the latest price in his area, so I can do this right.
Here's a few pics from this past summer...

This is why I have been boating so little...

Thanks for the compliments..

Scott ( Chrome) are your phone #'s the same?
I may give you a shout Thursday night (before the trip) to check on fuel..

About the cooler  , It is strapped in, just in front of my tool box. When I flop it over, the straps only keep it from falling out of the jeep. There is a bungee cord keeping the cooler closed, and very little water exits it. I am getting a set of rubber tie downs to attach the cooler to the floor, and will also make it removable.
Most of the times when vehicles go over you see huge amounts of trash, and junk everywhere. I try to keep everything secure, so the clean-up is relatively easy.
We always carry trash bags for trash, and other stuff we see just to try to be the good guy, but the trails are constantly closing, and mostly for litter reasons.
I did loose some tranny fluid in my Mem. Day flop, but not enough to really matter.
It was a very long night, as we were not able to get oil pressure once the engine was started, so I had to get towed out. It turned out, I broke my oil pick up inside the pan.. Good thing was, I was running Amsoil, and the several times I had to start my engine to help the tow vehicle. When we took off the caps, the bearing wear was very minimal. I did replace all of the bearings, none of which was worn excessively. I figure we ran a total ( start, drive over obstacle then shut down) of 30-45 minutes with out oil pressure :shocking:
Good thing about oil is it is cheaper than the parts it protects.....

Thanks, Ricky...seeya...
