I need to put something in this hole on the deck. It was originally where the fuel vent was before it was changed to a tank in the rear. I thought about putting another fuel vent, just for looks, but the one's I can find are too small. The opening is 1.5". I was thinking about a pop up fender cleat too, but I have the same problem.

Anyone know of something this size I could put in this hole?

Well, mine's bigger in diameter than that, but yours might fit

Anyway,.... I'll stop by marine liquidators next week and see what I can find for 'ya, is it flat, or does it have some curve to it?

Joe,

Go to Home Depot. Go to plumbing. Look for sink hardware. You'll find plugs intended to fill unused holes in the faucet area of sinks. Some snap in; some bolt in. You'll find one that will work...and cheap. :D

Cuda: When are you going to move those gawdawful registration numbers off the top deck???? Damn, those detract from the looks of an otherwise fine boat. :bonk:

Cuda,
Is that an old Checkmate?
How about fill the hole, fair it and put a USA flag sticker over it?

Joe, my .02 here.... get a pop-up bow eye like I had on the Minx, check that out... put the new pop up bow eye in the spot of your existing bowlight, and put your red/greens on each side like my critter has, where the hole now is. Or get a 6" Accon pop up for the bow, like the side mounts on my Minx. You'll be making a new hole on the other side of the deck too... this will tidy up the flat deck area and make the new lights kinda snakish looking ( I just know you luv snakes) they make the bow lights in round, and long oval config's.

That tug boat style bow light you have now, just doesn't get it in the modern world... that thing belongs on a 1958 Thompson lapstrake..

That cracked me up!

If I move the running lights, will it still be legal?

I think I'm going to run to Lowes and try Phil's quick fix, while I gather the stuff to do what Jim said. Excellent ideas both. I knew I could count on this site. :)

Phil, you're a genius! I bought the piece, walked in the garage and snapped it in place. Total cost, $1.24. :)

Damn Cuda, how the heck do you make time for so many boats?

That's a cool little boat. I remember when I first saw one, I was in high school and a friend of mine got one with a 70hp merc. It flew, literally. In a light chop the boat was 99% in the air, all the time.

What do you have on it for power?

Six of the seven. The only one down is the Minx, and that's because I haven't gotten a chance to diagnose it.

That's a pretty good ratio. Most people have a hard time keeping one out of one running.
