With all the talk of the top end speeds achieved and posted here on the board, the question I have is how long are yu able to hold teh speeds. answers in either time or distance appreciated. When I see 70mph+ speeds I'm just cusrious how long you can hold that type of speed.

Thanks .....

A mile to get up to speed maybe another mile to see if a little change in trim will help and then slow down. I have had some boats that beat that distance big time a few that needed more. How often maybe just a couple times a season to check and see if anythig changed.

Until the oil Temperature gets out of hand...A well balanced put together motor is essential....I held my Jet http://www2.hotboat.com/image_center/data/520/766DSC02056-med.JPG502 http://www2.hotboat.com/image_center/data/520/766DSC02102.JPGBBC at 5300 @ 78-82 mph for a ten mile run back to the ramp last season to with smooth water to see if it could handle it... last run of the season ,Oil temp never got over 260-270 ...big ass oil cooler, So I hold it as long as conditions alow.

Really oil temp is paramount to this qestion you asked.

I really can't go 78.4 on the water but don't tell DonCig that, the grudge match is a week away. But I can hold a good 65 for 20 miles when the gas prices are lower.
