You mention engine is from intake down..what carb(type & size) is used on the dyno? and is it available w/ engine??

On a 540 you could go with an 850 CFM or 1050 CFM depending on the application.

850 CFM Holley 4150 Marine Carb, electric choke, $570

1050 CFM Holley 4500 Dominator HP Marine Carb $880
