Water in the engine.
Need new engine.
This is the boat view I got.
The gas prices make me sick,
so I don't feel too bad
not being on the water!

I'm getting ready for Sarasota, so if someone had taken some pics yesterday or today, it would have been of me hanging over the engine compartment opening. I probably lost ten pounds in sweat!!!

Don, You sound much older on the phone. Way to keep your young boyish looks.

Wes I think the gravitational pull is greater at altitude, stunts ones growth no wonder his boats run fast

well, its been a long time since i "drove" a donzi. (12/13 YEARS?) went to AOTH III AND RODE IN 16', 18'S AND 22'S. (and appreciated every min. of those rides)

but as of sept. 3rd. my brother, who used to own the donzi i borrowed all the time, has been saying he wants an 18 classic. i said "no no no, you want a 22
so i have been telling him about some of the boats for sale here.
make a long story short, i might not need to be the "co-pilot" any longer

i'll post photos of 12 years ago, and two days ago..
p.s. sam, that was me waving to you from the dock on middle channel north of browns. i was showing you my donzi hat. was also wearing my madcow t-shirt.
seen at least 4 different donzi's that day.

randy, were you one of them? i wasnt sure , i didnt think so though..

Don,

------2 questions
------NO.1,,,,, Is the 22 special as good as you thought it would be?? Give us your thoughts. Were all the naysayers wrong about performance? Hope I havent missed a post somewhere about this already.
------NO.2,,,,, How is that wagon as a tow vehicle?? I know it looks bitchin!!
------I guess thats technically 3 questions. Hope thats OK? Oops, theres another question............Bill S

Bill, to answer all three of your questions.

1. I still do not know the speed capabilities of the Classic 22 up in Michigan. If I had not purchased the 1996 Cig. 20', I would be making a serious attempt on buying this boat. Yes, in my mind is is a very special 22 and somebody that buys this will have a very nice 22. I have offered my Cig. to a couple of people, but I am in no rush to sell it. I dumped around $6,000 in it so I need to sell it for around $30K with the new Eagle Alum. trailer. I think I can buy the 22 in Michigan for around 35k.
2. The Dodge Magnum Hemi AWD does a great job of towing my Classic 18. I get 12-13 mpg running around 75-80 mph (when towing), around 20 mpg when not towing. I use a load equalizing hitch for the long hauls. I have the Sachs load leveling shocks and they keep the back end of the car level.
Remember to place the trans. in 4th, and not 5th when towing in order to get enough coolant flow thru the tranny.
3. I still believe that Teds 22' is the fastest one that I know of at this time. I think that the 22 Classic in Michigan can hit 95-100 mph, but time will tell.

------Im sorry, Don! The young man looked as though he was standing next to that 22 so I assumed it had come home to Colorado.
------Baxter,,, Did you check with the boss about unauthorized use of the truck???
------By the way, none of you could have had as unpleasant a LD weekend as me unless you were in N.O.! Thursday I had a bit of work done to myself over at the local sawbones. You might say "south of the border" and "around the back of the building" would best describe what you really dont want me going into. Hoping to get well enough to take the 18 out next weekend and have some fun, "hoping" being the optimum word..........Bill S

Oops, looking at the small picture, I thought it was a Minx. Those two guys look like giants.

I spent the Labor day weekend on the road. Picked up a 22 classic to replace my 18. :D FL to NJ and back to FL in 3 days. On the way back I ran across this Sunbeam Alpine while stopping for a stogie. Also came across this Jeep which flipped about 6 cars in front of me. She tried to nap and drive at the same time :frown:

-------Yup, thought of that, but there is the remote possibility I might still have to bend over. At the moment the very idea of that gives me the "willies". Should have known better than to believe the doc when he said Id be all better in a couple of days!!!!!............Bill S

Great pictures!

Where did you get the wind screen? Does it deflect the wind away from your face?

Thanks. Those pictures will sustain me throughout the long Michigan winter.

For info on the windscreen, go to this post: http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?t=41736

The only snag is that "yesyoucan" has sold on eBay the set he mentions in the thread. However, even at full list, they are the best deal in the world.
