I have been dealing with a fuel problem with my '86 18C for the last couple of months. It would only run at WOT for about one minute before getting starved for gas and flaming out. Realized that I was clogging up the gas filter every couple of hours. First thought....19 year old boat....tank going bad...major fix. :mad: Flushed the tank, bought an $80 RACOR gas filter, rebuilt the carb......no luck..!! MOP said check the fuel line, it might be sloughing off the liner due to deterioration. I dried out some red flakes in a gas filter expecting them to be rust from the tank. They turned out to be rubber particles. Went down to the local hose shop and had a new Areoquip fuel line fabricated and Bingo-Bango...end of problem...!!! :yippie:
