You may remember that our 454 bravo one EFI was having trouble firing on all cylinders. The boat would start, go into gear, but would not rev up when we put the throttle down.

We had it with one Marine mechanic for 2 months before we pulled the plug on them.

The new shop had it for a week trouble shooting before they had Mercruiser bring over their computer and do a diagnostic test.

They say that it is a computer chip that controls the valves that needs to be replaced. They just got the part in and should have it ready for us tomorrow.

Wish us luck. If it works, we'll be on the water doing 65 tomorrow.

Good luck with the repair. I would ask more questions about the repair they are doing. The computer does not control the valves. It does control the ignition and injector pulses plus a bunch of monitoring.

mercury had a problem with the fuel pump floats that would let the engine idle when you hit it the floats would get heavy and shut off the fuel flo in the the housing in the fuel housing ,,,its located behind the intake,,,,and their was a update for it

I didn't see what the computer chip was actually controling, but whatever they did the boat is running better than ever. We hit 70 mph at 4100 rpms. Plenty of room to spare.

Thanks for everyone's advice and input. It is much appreciated.

Enjoy the rest of the summer.
