Apparently this "phenonemon" happens at the split second the Jets break the Sound Barrier.

Neat pics.

Very nice Prandtl-Glauert clouds.

But no body seems to know what these are.
Can you spot the problem?

Actually, they don't need to be going anywhere near Mach 1. All you need (I think) is some sort of maneuver that generates a very low pressure area and high enough humidity to vaporise and form the visible vapor.
A high nose maneuver, a sharp turn, maybe even deploying the dive brake.

Is it because it's on the bottom also?

Well... a few things come to mind... the B-2 is supposedly only capable of subsonic speeds. If the B-2 generated a shockwave of this magnitude then it wouldn't by any means be invisible to radar. Is this what you mean?

Gotta love .9 Mach.... I had the opportunity to watch an F-18 (Blue Angels) and and F-16 (T-birds) do just that... 150' off the deck at Hanscom AFB... SWEEEEET!

The clouds are caused by the water vapor in the air (relative humidity) being compressed into a visible vapor by the aircraft... the more humid, the better the cloud...
