Heres a 1937 chris craft barrelback thats been sitting for 15 yrs...its all there and most likely a 30k boat..but the guy will not sell it...he says it was his DAD's boat and hes going to restore it some day... btw he's in his 90's.

That's sad!!!
It'll end up being tied up in some estate squabble.

That is not a true CC barrelback. The true barrelbacks were only built from 1939 to 1942. A true barrelback has a nearly exact half circle if you look at the transom. On this boat there is a "dogleg" where the side of the boat and the deck join. On a barrelback there is no such transition.
I agree a $30k boat when restored, not in present condition. Also you need to budget nearly $20k to restore it. It might bring $10k as it is. If it was a true barrel, add $5k to the as-is price and $10k to the restored price.

--------A true Barrel-back just passed my house about 15 minutes ago. The boat was finished about 6 weeks ago and sold for $55,000. Bone stock with the exception of teak flooring.........Bill S
