This Saturday, August 13, thousands of boats will converge in Big Muscamoot Bay located in Michigan's, Lake St. Clair in an attempt to break the world record for most boats tied together in a continuous raft.

We will be heading out to the site around 7:00am that morning. Anyone interested in meeting up with us and partying for the day while attempting to get into the Guiness Book of World Records should contact me by either responding here or calling me directly at 248-830-2390.

Man, I'd like to have the boat soda concession for that event!!!

I'm hoping to get to Torch Lake this weekend. I wonder if I'll have the lake to myself!!! :spit:

What is the current record?

1,453 on Lake Norman just north of Charlotte. Our annual event has been cancelled.

Greg,

Guiness has not updated their site with the new number (1453). Was it official or did Lake Norman get DQ'd on that attempt for some reason? Any idea?

That is the number we're shooting for though...

From what I know...they're pretty slow at updating their site with records. I've also read or heard 1483 was the number as well.

My prediction, if they can get the job done this time, will be 2000+ boats. They're being a little smarter this time from the standpoint that they simnply want to beat the 1453. Last year 3000ish boats showed up and they were overwhelmed. This year they expect the same 3000 boats, but they will focus on getting 1453 together properly first. We'll see. Hoping the weather holds up as well.
