Merc. 200 O/B. Ignition kill switch has 2 posts marked "M," and 2 posts marked "C." M is for magneto and C is for Choke. WTF? The factory packaging is long gone, so...

I assume you want to cut the power going to the ignition, "I."

Ahhhhhhhh, the more I read into this, the more I think I'm gonna answer my own question. Now I'm thinking, when "you fly out of the boat with the lanyard on," it cuts the battery ground and ground to the magneto...? Is that right? Whay the 2 posts for "C," choke?

My ignition switch has 2 posts labeled "M." One looks like it goes to the negative battery post and the other to the magneto ground.

can anyone shed some light on this?

Hi Nate;
Get an ohm meter and figure out what the two sets of posts do.
For instance, on mine one set of posts will show continuity when you trip the switch and one set will will open.
If you want to ground something, use the set that creates a circuit when pulled.
If, like on my boat, you want to interupt the ignition when tripped, use the other set.
I hope this helps.
