We just picked up a family "project" and the prop needs to be replaced. The local prop shop is suggesting a 15-19 or 15-21. Use is generally cruising. Any thoughts?

BTW, the driving station is on the left which means the prop would likely spin... left or right?

Thanks,
Lou

Lou, The choice would be a "lefty". I think a 15" dia. would be unusual. My boat is the same as yours, only the shorter version. I use a 14x19 and a 14x21. The 19" is the most fun and generally the most versatile. These old style blades are not readily available for me, so I haven't done a lot of experimenting. Therefore, I pretty much use the 14x19 exclusively.
I'm anxious to hear what others will have for recommendations.
Good luck,
Dave

Left hand for sure. Don't even consider going right hand.

I run a Volvo Ultra 14x24p on my '66 18 w 289 Cobra power. Excellent handling and good top end. They are getting hard to come by but they do turn up now and again.

There are some 14-3/8x23p aluminum from Michagan Wheel around in left hand. Not great but the pickings are slim.

Big Grizzly here has a line on a new offering from Solas but the hard information has been slow in comming... Lenny???

Lou-
With the 2 barrel carburetor, the 14 1/4 or 14 1/2 X 19 may be the better as David mentioned. Will probably allow the engine to be right at 4200 or very close.
