Hey everyone,
Just curious about how much play there should be in the steering. The wheel seems fine but I can swing the drive about 3" side to side. Any ideas or thoughts?
Thanks,
Wes

check the clevis pin where the drive attaches to the steering they wear there. Also the 2 bolts on the drive. If you stand behind the drive, where you were about to check for the play. There are 2 bolts above where the drive bolts on check to see if they are bolth tight. I don't know how 2 explain it better. thats where i had my play.

My steering play was in the gimble ring. If that needs replacing, there is a place that rebuilds them for alot cheaper than buying new. If that is what you need, let me know and I will see if I can find the info on where to get it done.

Thanks for the info.
Here's what I have so far: clevis pin is good, the 2 bolts at the top of the drive are tight and the gimble seems good. I can grab the drive and try to move it up/down and side to side and don't see any play.
I think the play is coming from the helm. When someones moves the drive for me I can see all the linkage move without slop. I will check the helm tonight.
Thanks again.
Wes
