Water, water, everywhere

Debbie and I took the four wheelers out this evening in the Ocala National Forest this evening. There was more water today, than there was last year when we first started going out there right after the hurricanes.

We got a few miles out from the truck, and when we stopped, I could here the battery on Debbie's machine whistling. Then I could see it was smoking, and smelled like acid. Since I didn't have any tools with me, I figured my best bet was to get back to the truck. I followed her all the way back, and could see the battery steaming more, and I could smell it thirty yards back. Got it back home, and used the garden hose to keep it cool while I took the battery out. I was expecting it to blow up or melt down at anytime. After looking at both machines, I saw her's was missing the voltage regulator! I guess last week when Debbie, her daughter, and two other girls from the neighborhood were out riding, the regulator most have come loose, then pulled the wire off and fell off.
