Keeping that red stripe in Florida from fading in one or two days of sun
is getting imposible. What is the best wax to use and how many coats?
Thanks

Would clear coating the stripe eliminate the fading????

It's the UV that's killing your stripe. A good clear might help but the boat would require a lot of prep. Check with Scott Pearson he has a very good background in this area.

Clear coating it will not keep it from fading as the clear coat does not contain any UV protection.

Waxing Frenzy has the highest UV protection of any wax on the market and will maintain the depth and color longer. You don't want to "layer" your wax, but you will want to wax that deck more frequently than the rest of the boat as it takes the brunt of the sun and heat.

I compounded my whole boat and deck, waxed with Star Brite Teflon then Meguiars carnuba wax on one side and Collinite's insulator wax on the other side and it was all chaulky again in less than a week so I can state that these products won't help. The Aqua Buff 2000 compound was not very impressive either.

Apparently a prev owner of my boat had the same problems. So.....My deck stripe is painted on. No more gel stripe. It is usually the shiniest part of my boat. I just have to treat it a bit differently than the gel. I've used the Frenzy wax, and it has done a decent job. Easy on\off for sure. It isnt the best at restoring dull stuff ( i use the 3m for that), but once the gel is good, it's great to use.

Wax The Red 1 Time With A Good Cleaner Wax And Then 5-10 Coats Of Polish Wax And Then 1 Coat Of Sealent Wax This Should Stop It From Fading. The Idea Is To Get A Build Up Of Wax 1-2 Coats Is Not Going To Do It On A Dark Color. I Use Maguares The Sealent They Make Is Unreal Works Great Give It A Try Before You Have To Spend The Money Painting It.

Have it painted with a good polyurethane. That's what I did with my Minx.

For the record some clears do have UV inhibitors otherwise most will yellow over time. Having said that just a clear coat will not give you the protection you need. I agree with Cuda have a paint system designed and applied for your specific needs. My 96 sixteen is basicly all red with white a stripe. The red is always a chalange to keep bright and clean looking. The painted white stripe on the other hand is brite and shinny all the time.

I concur about the paint, it's the only way to go. Mine stays much shinier than the deck. I only have to clean the water spots off it.

Get it to where you want it, polish and wax it. Then hit it with 303. Easy wipe on application.

Also, I started using this wax recently. It also has inhibitors in it.
