So who has one? Who has seen one at their local dealer? Where? Price? Website?

I am about ready to start my search :)
Looking for real people performance data...

The 33ZX is running better every day. Attached is a picture from the 2005 Smith Mountain Lake Poker Run!

Frank, been awhile, I am rarely on any of the boards these days. But I have been boating.. damn gas prices are killing me...

So, lets hear and see more on your 38 525 boat? And what is the asking price?

I am sure you have boated them, so what are the big differences in ride, be specific. I am up to speed on the options/layout.

My issues are, buy 2 feet more boat?
Blue motors and 93 octane in a 38.
Neither are attractive. Have they made any 38's with other power packages that can run 87. I am paying $ 2.45 a gallon now, which equals to about 200 bucks every day I take her out.

Also considering dumping the 04 F350 since I dry store now, mid life crisis AGAIN, maybe I would have fun in a sports car... :shocking:

We will have to talk soon.

Bryan,
Why 93 for a 525? Merc still states 87 octane as the fuel requirement for the 525. You know Bryan, if you keep moving up your going to eventually run out of boat options. :biggrin.: Only two left after the 38ZR; 45ZX or 40'ZR.

Nice ZR's Frank. That first one is beautiful.

Bryan,

Skip the small stuff and get the one you really want!
Seems you buy a new boat every two years.
You won't be really happy till you get to the Magnums !

Mr. Tuvell, :) , I spent $320 on gas in my 350 X-18 last weekend and ran only 125 miles in 5 hours, and a 650 CFM Demon. Try $ 5.10 a gallon here. If I was running a pair of big-Blocks I would be selling my house

Throttle happy, Lenny... :)

Man I thought we were getting raked over the coals here in So Cal - $2.65 for midgrade and $2.75 for 91 premium(91 oct).

Whay a bummer Lenny on your gas prices :(

Try $3.85 a gallon for 89 at Lake Tahoe. Cheaper to pul the boat out take it to the station fill it up at $2.70 and drop it back in. Unfortunately a real pain in the a@!.

Lots of great replies....

I guess I need to get smarter on the 525, I thought they were 93 motors. And honestly those that do have them down here are in 1 of 2 categories, awesome, or always issues.

I am ready to move up, just looking for the right ticket to punch, time is on my side this time, the 33ZX is serving me well and so is Donzi.

New FREE horn cover came in the mail today, a damn wave took it off.... Go figure.

So, keep the data on the 38ZR's (new ones) coming.
Bryan

PS, just watched a 496HO with a whipple blow with 30 hours. And he was a nurse the motor type.
Not a proven combo if you ask me.

Jim, I hear you, I hope your well, been awhile.

I may stay put, I love the 33ZX, but as you know it is a disease with me. Kids are almost grown etc, so for 2 people the new style might fit me better, and of course I would like to be the man! LOL

Another question is how deep is the cockpit relative to a 33ZX? If I sink the foot rests I am even with the windscreen, a great fit.

Just snooping and fishing around.

Bryan; You say your kids are nearly grown??
Well looks like you are ready to adopt.
How does a 60 yr. old, slightly used son sound to you?
I am completely potty trained, don't eat much, and will NEVER say no to going out in OUR Donzi(daddy).
If you like, you could adopt me just for the summer months, then, send me back to Canada in the fall.
Waiting with baited breath, my daddy to be. Your hopefully future son Teddy.

Bryan, we are obviously in "different" boats. This is a pic of how it looks here. Me in a $10K 58 MPH 18' DONZI and him in a $300K +++ 128 MPH Outerlimits with twin 1300 Blower Motors, 871's, Stellings and #6's.

He broke, so, ... I did better :D

Off topic, but you are out of my "League" now :( ... :D :D :D

...but I won't give up :D , REMEMBER who has the fastest DONZI and what it is :)

Lenny,

---------Other than a few good moments enjoyed by the Outerlimits owner, dont you feel cool now? I think that you have hit on what is so good about "old DONZIs". They have an unparalleled pedigree and yet they are an unparalleled bargain. And you have already had a bunch of "CQQL" times. The fella with the downed Outerlimits is feeling pretty shortchanged at the moment that picture was taken. Whats he got for that 300 large????? But if you reverse the equation and its your old 197? X18 that has stopped forward motion, everyone expects it because, HEY, its an old boat. How cool is it to pull up to a multiple 100 thousand $ boat with your $5000/15,000 DONZI and ask if you can help. Hey,,,,Need a tow?????? More than happy to help!!!!!!!!
---------Obviously, Bryan is our hero for going for the brass ring (38ZR) but there is also something to be said for the low-key approach to the DONZI world. God luv ya, Bryan! We all want a ride, and we will all be there for you on the backside. I know there is a reverse side to this as the big-bucks guys could just as easily be the ones asking if they can help, but it just isnt the same................Bill s
