Before they were mercury Racing, they were called Mercury Hi-Performance. I am looking at a 465HP version of one of thier motors. I know it's a 502 block, but I am curious to the rest of the info.

Thanks

THANKS! Any idea about the rest of the internals? Forged pistons? Steel Crank? Heads?

Dave there may be one for sale down here not sure, a little history. The engine has been out of the boat for over a year the owner a Lady has had a battle with Merc over oil usage. It is at friends shop he says it spit a quart every 4-5 hours but ran great, he felt that the issue of the oil was it is an early 502 bock before they changed. I am not sure what the change was but I know quite a few that have complained about them going through oil to fast. I had asked about it awhile back he said she may be getting rid of it, check into the oil thing. If you are interested I will hound him about it.

Woodsy,
There were some component changes during the production run so the serial # would glive us the exact info. The heads are 990 rectangle port, steel crank, with 7/16 rods and forged pistons. Overall a very solid piece.
