1992 Plymouth voayager AC recently converted to R134. All seals replaced.

When it get warm after an hour the belt sqeels and burns. It get turned off,


After a while when turned back on after car sits it works again for a while.

What is it?

H.B., i'm no auto a/c expert, but in commercial refreigeration i do know that when converting from R12 or R22 to R-134A the oil also needs to be changed at the compressor since 134A uses synthetic oil. Not sure if this could be your prob or not. good luck.

I'm sure the only reason i beat you to the punch is because i had my arse firmly planted on the leather covered foam, doing quotes, playing Freecell, and mindlessly babbling on the site. I do hope our presumption helps H.B.

this is for a coworker whose AC wnr out in the New Mexican desert this last week.

3 things to cause that:
Its over charged or the compressor manifold head line is installed up-side down and the freon is entering the compressor as a liquid instead of a gas causing the compressor to hydro lock, the reason for the belt squeal.
3rd: comp bearings are bad and seizing when hot, ask if theres a marble rattling sound when cold and the comp clutch is engaged.
