I'm planning for a new garage and want to future proof in case a 22 Classic follows me home.

What I'm looking for is: overall length of a 22 including lower unit in down position, and the length of the boat on the trailer including the trailer tongue.

Anyone using a fold-away tongue to save space? How about removable tongues?

30' foot depth would be "OK" but not fun getting around at front or back. I would give it 36' depth so you can run around it and answer the phone and stuff and not have to be an Olympic hurdler.

One of mine is 30' deep, and with the 18 in there, leg UP, there is only about 4' left and that is benches. It is no fun. My other one is 50' and that is much better but still crowded 'cuz it is lay-out entirely wrong for a boat. (my problem) 30W x 36L (length of boat) would be quite comfortable I think.

Then again, big is never big enough...and then something else will follow you home... :D

Like most things in life, bigger is better. The Money Pitt has a 24x32 with 11 foot ceilings and 9 foot doors. Since it is in a velocity zone (on a large bay), is has pilings. One door is 8.5' wide and one is 10.5' wide. I was building it as the "terminal house" but life change...

The Crack House is in an historical area, and I did a 20x36. A small 4 car garage. Or right now, the Nova, 2 liter bikes, the Ranchero and the Jeep - and a hemi and a 390/c-6 and a ...With a single 8' x 16' door. 9' ceiling. It gave me a small frontal to not destroy the scale of the house. Unfortunately, I need less sh## or more garage!

My garage is 40 feet deep, but the last twelve feet is partitioned off for an insulated work room, so that leaves 28 feet in the main room. At 28 feet, the ony way I can get my 20 foot Minx in the garage is at an angle that blocks both doors.

Build the garage as big as your wallet can stand. I moved here a year ago. I came from a house with no garage to this one, and I can barely get around in it now days.

A 22 will run 27 to 28 feet on the trailer, with the drive in the down position. A 30’ long building will do the job. A folding tongue will shave 18" or so on the trailer length.

I can't get either of my two 20 footers in the 28 foot length without cocking them.

it really depends on what type of trailer you have I can back straight in a 26ft deep garage with a roller type, looked at a aluminum trailer but had to pass,it was about 3ft longer :banghead:

Actually mine is 34 feet due to zoneing restriction this gives me abour 6 to 8 feet of roon to ajust the boat and lift it on the two post car lift which is rated for 10,000 pounds. first time in my life i could my one boat in my one garage

How does that work? I am combining my garages and was wondering if I could store two boats, one on top of each of two lifts.

Is the two post as good as the four post for this?

Thanks in advance, Craig

A 25' garage holds an 18' Donzi with 15" to spare. I would plan on 30' with a 22' Donzi.

which is just slightly under 30 foot with her new trailer.

I would think going 30 foot would be tucking it in pretty close.
There is no photographic evidence of the Hydromotive blade
sticking out of the back of my barn, by the way...

As for swivel nose or removable hitches, I would think the 22 is a little heavy for this kind of treatment.

Think big, build bigger...

My garage is 32 x 32 I fit the 18ft donzi, a twin post lift, bathroom, 2 cars and a jet ski and can still move around I roll the donzi tight against the back wall.

18' Classic, Eagle single axle trailer, real tight in a 24X24. JMO make it as big as you can afford or the village (town, city, etc.) will allow. I'm trying to get a variance to go 32X24. Good Luck
