You know, the ZX boats look great when their in the water but man do they look wicked when their out of the water!! The current ZX hull is a real work of art.

We left Flagstaff this Sunday afternoon for Long Beach to pick up my dad's new T-500HP 33ZX. We took along a new triple axle Myco trailer. The trailer is also a work of art, Myco builds one hell of a trailer.

We located the boat in Long Beach and proceeded to transfer the boat to our trailer.

My new 496/6-speed Chevy truck did an awesome job pulling the 11,000-12,000 lb load from sealevel up to 7,000 ft. I only had 500 miles on the truck when we left.

RickS,
I was looking at the Boat Trader online site today and I could swear I saw this boat. Maybe it was just one like it. When I saw it, my comments to myself were: "What a beautiful Donzi." I hope you and your dad have many wonderful outings on a truly fantastic looking boat.

Thanks for the comments guys. Like the 28 Scorpion I mentioned before this boat was apparently used in a movie or TV show, 20 hours on the motors. Let me know if anyone sees it on TV. It may have been used on the show VIP with Pamela Anderson. Or maybe the original dealer just drove it around a lot.

I've heard the now defunked dealer also had the Charlie's Angles boat. I never saw it but was told it was repainted after the movie. I'd think it would be more valuable as it was in the movie.

BTW, since my dad is a dealer this boat will be for sale, asking $182,000 w/trailer $172K w/o trailer. But if it doesn't sell it's ours.

Looks like Donziman2's new 26ZX only his has a checkerboard fairing with Donzi on the deck and poker cards on the side. Went with him today to look during while the dealer was prepping and it's one sharp rig... http://www.donzi.net/ubb/cool.gif

Rick, that is one fine looking Donzi, but did you notice that guy tailgating your rig in the last picture? http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Forrest,
You got the eagle eye don't you?
That was me!
I was drooling over the boat and somehow my front bumper got hooked to the outdrives!

Rick S,

Looks like you finally took delivery on that truck you've been waiting for. Nice looking rig! Great way to break it in too. Are you ready for a Havasu or Lake Mead trip? I'm still waiting to get my boat back from my dealer, they've had it since Feb. putting a depth sounder and ski tow eye in it. Should be done this week. Let me know if you are up for a trip. Did you or anyone make it to Havasu for the Poker Run?

I accidentally backed into that guy in L.A. The car got hooked to the drives so I just dragged the car all the way to Flagstaff. http://www.donzi.net/ubb/tongue.gif

Just Kidding.

That's my dad's rental car, our scout car. It really came in handy when we needed to check out gas stations for room to maneuver. I didn't even know he was back there before I shut the truck off, can you imagine the damage if I would have backed up.

Scubado,
The truck is great, lots more room now inside for the family. I still have not gone out in the boat, just got the truck 2-weeks ago. I may go to Powell May 18-20 for the weekend to meet some friends on a houseboat. You’re welcome to come up if we go. Also may be going to Elephant Butte, NM on Memorial Day weekend to ride in the 33ZX. I’d really like to get to Apache, Havasu or Mead this year. Apache is supposed to be a nice lake and not to crowded in the summer time. Let’s keep in touch irt. a trip. I still need to get a new prop before I go out again, and will probably order it this week.

We missed the Poker Run due to the trip to LA. I did see a lot of boats on I-40, probably returning from the Run. Also saw a lot of NASCAR haulers, must have been a race in California that weekend.

So what's going on with the Donzi dealer in Phoenix? Are they still open just not selling Donzi's?

Rick,

I've been to Apache lake several times with my kayak but never my Donzi. The access road is a windy narrow gravel road (about 7 miles). If you go, be sure to come in from the Lake Rosevelt side. The other way would be a real bear with a boat. Canyon lake is nice. Lots of cliffs, mountain goats, deer, etc. It is the lake below Apache in that chain. Paved road access all the way. Apache is more remote and has more beach access.

The Donzi dealer in Phoenix is still open, I'm not sure if they carry Donzi or not... The sales guy at the last boat show in Phoenix was saying that they were going to drop the Donzi line. That was several months ago and it was comming from a sales guy...

I saw the Pamala Anderson VIP boat and the Charlie's Angels boat in Phoenix at Bodnar Boats. They were in for cosmetic repairs. Those Hollywood types were pretty hard on those things. Nice boats though.

We're finding out that the now closed California dealer didn't take very good care of his inventory. The 33 we picked up will needs a fair amount of paint and gel coat work. Several snaps were torn off on the cover and the exhaust tips are rusted through because they left salt water sitting in them. The good news is that as part of the deal Donzi will cover all repairs.

I sure wish they'd let Rosevelt fill up, seems like keeping Apache, Canyon and Saguaro full is a higher priority since they're closer to Phoenix.
