Foam under the bow

I am about to be the proud owner of a '78, 18' Classic in need of restoration. While inspecting the boat I found expandable foam under the bow under the floor and some in the engine compartment. Is this normal for this year boat?

I have a '78 18" in original condition and yes there is foam aplenty. Under the deck, in the engine compartment, under the cockpit. It must've been cheap.
