Is the Chris Craft Lancer a Ray Hunt design? If not, who designed it? Just curious. I always thought they were good looking boats, very Bertramish. What is the top speed of your boat?

It was definetly not designed by Hunt, the only Chris Craft ever designed by Hunt was the Tournament 30.

Top speed is high 40s, could probably break 50mph with the right prop.

Here are some pictures of the boat, the engine is factory freshwater cooled. The drive would still have the decals on it if it wasn't for a careless kid with a presure washer.

So is your boat still for sale?

What part of MA are you in?

Has it been run in only fresh water?

Any other details? CB-Marine radio, ect?

What's your reason for getting rid of it.

How will the Pats fair this year?

Still for sale, the boat spent at least the last 10 years in salt water, before that is was used on a lake. Most of the chrome pieces like the vents and cleats have pitting and could be replaced. The hull and mechanics are in very good shape. The boat has a VHF and fish finder. I am selling it so I can focus on another boat project, a Bertram 24. I am north west of Boston about 15 miles.

Boat is still available, the repower bill was over $14k alone, no reasonable offer refused.

Even though the boat was run in saltwater, it wouldn't bother me, she's Fresh Water Cooled!!!

The Chris Craft Lancer was designed by Jim Wynne, a naval architect and the same guy who designed the formula 233, Formula Jr., the 16, 18, and 28 ft Donzi, and patent holder for the invention of the stern drive, although it's said that his friend and fellow M.I.T. grad and Kiekhaefer Corp. employee Charles Strang was the actual inventer. The Lancer is definitely a classic with lines that were probably designed to appeal more to the New England sailboat yacht types than speed demons. Ray Hunt, a Naval architect was the inventor of the deep-v, designer of the Bertram 31 and the Boston Whaler. If he'd taken five minutes to read a book on patent law and licensing agrrements, he probably would have been a billionaire.

Gone, sold it to a gentleman from Canada a couple weeks ago, he said he found it on Craig's list after doing a google search.
