Has anyone ever tried an extension box on a 22 Classic? Anything like the Imco 12" setback box with the steering ram wings. I have a stock 22 Classic 1996 Bravo I setup with a 502 Mag 415hp. Does it work well or is it too much setback, has anyone tried it? Imco has an option for direct 12" setback or one with a 3" x-dimension rise. Any thoughts? Does it lose too much bow lift with the x-dim gain?

I'll post a picture of a boat with the Imco setup.

Any thoughts/input appreciated.

Thanks,
SL

Here is the Imco setup.....Stellings also makes one.

Both are nice but I believe the Stelling is much easier to adjust. Has 3 different X dimensions you can use.

The stellings has no steering option tho and that is what I am really after. I prefer the Stellings because 0" or 3" x-dim is no so flexible. Stellings 1" increments seems better.

Pismo...

I looked into the Imco Boxes alot when I was messing around with the BH stuff. The neutral Imco should work good, but it might put your prop too deep. The raised Imco required you to raise the engine the same amount. This can lead to clearance issues. You are better off getting a shorty lower, and going with hydraulic steering. U could get the shorty lower and the neutral box..... that might work really well.......

I gave a box a lot of thought as Scot offered it to me awhile back, I did a fair bit of asking around. There is quite a bit to be considered to get it setup right, like Dave said it can put your prop to deep. Out hulls do their best trimmed high that rocks the box down deeper in the water, there is a Super Boat on the south side that ended up redoing the transom to get the right X. They do work well but do your home work!

It's interesting you should ask...a number of people just went through that. Here's the solution http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?t=50138.
