For anyone wanting to know the difference between 1 megapixel, 3 megapixel, 5 megapixel...etc cameras, I came across something today that will help explain it a little better.
Here is the largest digital picture in the world. It is 3.5 gigapixle (gig means 1000). This is an interactive demonstration that allows you to zoom, and move around the picture.
while the image you see looks like a picture of a city, try zooming in. That is where the greater pixles come into play. You can zoom in or blow up with much more clarity and less reduction in picture quality with images from larger pixel cameras, than with smaller ones.
This is almost scary when you start zooming in on windows, cars,...etc. Anyway, its a cool site

BTW, after you zoom each time, it takes a second to fully load.
