I am in the process of repowering my 1980 Hornet with a Bravo 1. The boat originally came with a TRS. I have replaced the transom and am ready to install the inner and outer transom plates/gimbal etc.. Does anyone know at what level or height on the transom should I mount the transom plates? Is the intent to mount the drive as high as possible for the greatest amount of speed? The boat will be powered by a small block so there appears to be pleanty of room to deal with.
Scott,
Isn't a 1980 Hornet longer than a 1968? Not that Richard Weaver is a bad place to start however a foot of running surface can make a big difference.

[QUOTE=MadPoodle]Yes, there is a foot difference. However, I don't know anyone else who has done the conversion to a Bravo.
Charlie plans on a SBF . and a Bravo I
Poodle,
