Hey Scott
Dr. D.
Matty,
I have a small window of opportunity to maybe attend the last part of this event.
I have looked at my performing schedule all summer and this is the only event that I have a Sat. Nite off.
I would drive from Indianapolis Sat. morning, arrive real late Sat. Nite, and run with the pack on Sun.
It doesn't make much sense to drive that far for one afternoon of boating, I know, but it'll be the only event that I'd make this year, and if anyone's staying over for a day or two,I don't have to be back to Indy 'till Tues or Wed. That would make it a little less crazy,I guess.
How far is it from Indy? Am I off the "deep end?"Should I stay home?
Your thoughts....?
If my 68 is done I'll bring it, otherwise, I'll bring my Scorpion 18..
I haven't made up my mind yet..It sure looks like fun,and I'd like to attend something

Did the map quest thingy. About 830 miles and 12 hrs..... dude thats nuts for half a day of boating. Now if it was in any way possible to leave Friday morning, boat on Sat And Sun then travel back mon thats probably more realistic. Hope something works out for you, the more the merrier!

Dr. Dan
05-16-2005, 09:05 PM
:bonk: I agree with Chrome SubMarine Boy...I have done alot of ridiculous trips and its fun but you might wanna conside flying into Albany...get a Car and drive up for the Event...its Stupid to try to bring the Boat for such a short time...some people do hang til Monday ...but even then...its a haul dude!

Liz is flying in Friday night about 11:00pm if ya think you could coordinate that...we would be happy to add you to our Roster?

Let Me know

Doc :wavey:

Magicallbill
05-16-2005, 11:56 PM
Chrome&Docter,
Thanks for the MapQuest info, and Doc,also appreciate the flying idea.
My Friday nite gig would not be over 'till 2:00AM,therefore,I wouldn't be able to co-ordinate into the flight your speaking of.
I think I want to bring one of my boats to an event when I can finally attend one.(Not to say I wouldn't beg a ride or two in one of your all's rigs!)
You both are right; The drive is too long to justify the short time on the water, not to mention the fact that I wouldn't get much sleep, which makes the long drive dangerous,Etc......
I scan this site a lot,and see all the events your planning, read your all's posts as you get jazzed up for the meet, and wish I could bring my Donzi to one, also. I saw this one, and, well, you know, started trying to make it happen in my head when I saw I had that Sat. off. That 830 miles is easier to do in my chair thinking about it than actually pulling my 18 across 3 states for a short afternoon.
Unfortunately,my entertainment profession dictates that I perform on weekends when everyone is off work and can stay up late.

Unfortunately, that's when everybody runs their boats too.

I am beginning discussions with Scott Boldt about the possibility of a fall(Mid-Sept.)run on Cumberland on a Sun-Mon-Tues. The conditions are MUCH better in the fall,(clearer water, lower levels, better cliff-viewing,cheaper rates at Jamestown, and more stable weather, not to mention less debris in the water.)
I know it's early in the week, but if any of you could work schedules, family commitments, etc. around it,I'm sure you'd enjoy the Lake in the fall.Air temps are still around 80 and water temps are hi 70's.
I am a single drummer,so it's easy for me to break away for a mid-week thing, but I also understand the obligations of familes&jobs, and if a run like this doesn't make sense for you guys, I understand.
Just thought I'd throw it out...
Somebody take&post some good shots of the events this summer!

we met Friday nite without the boats at the alconquin up on route 9 in bolton landing at I think 7pm or so but check the www.lgdonziclassic.com site for the times this is a hi how are u get to know ya social hour ;)
we met there again on sat morning at 8am with the boats i think again check, there is a marina right next door with a ramp and gas CHIC's I think dr dan and the boys use i think they have trailer parking as well from there after registration or during the boats that are giving out cards will take off there will be a drivers meeting then the poker run of beautiful lk george will take place make sure you're fueled up oh forgot the have coffe and danish in the morning i think i am not a breakfast person after the poker run which the ladies are encouraged to drive if not no biggy :) we return to the alconquin for lunch if you like on your own, and playing our poker hands, then the rest of the afternoon is up to you to enjoy the lake then we meet back again at the alconguin that night for dinner paid with the registration fee with mr pearson,
for awards auction/raffles and a lil surprise from mattyboy this year :)
trust me you will have a blast
then sunday morning at 10 or so we met for another full run of the lake off the sagamore not too far from the alconquin
you'll get plenty of boating in
now that I sat here for 15 minutes and typed this out i realize you're on the road hope the parents have internet access :)
some of the group I believe will be there on thursday maybe not a bad day to recon with the 22 depending on how far your commute is

dr dan can i get an amen on this info for chic's :)

Matty you are right on all accounts...Chics is best place to get your Lake Pass but not the only one...Narrowells is available also and also has a launch area.

Scott ... Chics is tight to get into, swing wide left, crank her hard right and hug the Road Parallel in the Parking Lot, go inside and ask for a Lake Pass for the few days your there...I think for us its like $60 for 3 days and the Trailer ... the Trailer Parking is above the Road up a little Driveway...I have never had a problem leaving mine there...just keep in mind how ya wanna pull out before ya dump it...in case a Moron parks to close or whatever. :bighug:

Looking forward to it...I will be in Town Thursday Morning.

Just wanted to take a minute to wish Scott Pearson and all the folks helping him run the Dust-off this year a wonderful and safe long weekend. Those traveling in from afar, remember to take it easy and arrive alive. Everyone will want to see you all back again in future years.

Sure wishing I could be there with you all. Maybe once things settle down in my life. Take Care and enjoy the beauty of Lake George! You know we want to see pictures!

I didn't think I was going to be able to make it this year but plans changed and I'll be coming up tomorrow.

Treasure Cove has a room for Friday but none for Sat; I have a room on hold until 5pm at the Capri.

Any recommendations from those of you who've been there before?

will the boat be leaving 5 minutes ahead of you again????????? ;) :p

Matty's tips

1. get a lake pass
2. don't take the boat down the first driveway at treasure cove
3. if you pass the sagamore you've gone to far
4. if you are a first time arrival at the capri I hear it is a custom to get the slip under the boat house :p  then you get to play onsey twosey on the dock with the doc
5. gas up
6. be prepared to have a good time and see some great donzi and a great lake
7. try Grandma's back porch for a meal that sticks to yo ribs and everything else for that matter
