Does anyone have an estimate on what straight through hull (no mufflers), on a mild SBC would be? standard GLM manifolds, Mercrusier SS Risers. 90db is the limit in Florida, and am wondering if I am going to have to add mufflers?

Is there a difference in side exhaust if I go that route? (may need to in order to install mufflers)

CURSED SWIM PLATFORM!!

Thanks
Wayne

Fla has a limit??? :D

You shoiuld be fine.. Water helps silence em...
I think the limit (90db) is just designed to put more money into the pocket of the man!!

Thanks

Michigan is 90 dB too... my 16 with GLM manifolds, IMCO M-72 risers and striaght cut internal flapper corsa tips goes about 106 dBA slow response at idle... i say F-em if they can't take a joke... you'll be mid 90's in my estimate... mroe water you are pushing out the quieter it'll be too...

One man's noise is another man's music. In TEXAS the louder the better.

I do pretty much all my boating in Florida, either ICW or St. Johns. I have a 496HO with straight thru hull. Never had a problem, nor have I heard of anyone having a problem up here. I'd guess you'll be OK. I wouldnt worry.

My cast iron manifolds were around 96-98. My current Stainless Marine set up bumped me up to around 106-112 db depending on where you hold the DB meter at. Keep in mind the compression will effect your noise level.

Depending how old the boat is and how old the law is you may be grandfather in. If not, like most have said, F’um. I run through hull (no mufflers) with a hoped up 360ci small block. Doesn't seem any loader then the big blocks that run around where I do.
