I am looking to buy a 22' Classic and would like peoples opinions on the 496 vs. the 496HO. I have heard the speed difference is about low 60's to low 70's. Does anyone know the price difference to step up to the HO?

No its about 4k. It's worth the upgrade. There have been some thread discussing this ssue. Do a search. :biggrin.:

As far as performance. 496 MAG is good for upper 60's. The 496 HO is good for low to mid 70's.

I agree with Johnny Ringo et al, go with the 496Mag HO, 425pshp will get you into the mid 70s on a good day.

If your prop is a 25" Mirage Plus, you will rev just over 5000, hopefully just below the rev limiter of 5150 on the HO which is perfect and should not harm the engine. Expect mid 70s top end. My 502(415hp) with a 25" turns just to the rev limiter 5050rpm at 74.5mph GPS. You will have 425hp with the same prop but a higher rev limiter so look for a touch more.

Enjoy.
