Anybody know why hollman moody used two different flywheel weights on there 302's? I've found 20lbs and 30lbs. on ebay.

Ford used different flywheels on the 302's depending on Hi Perf or not, if you have your oringinal and the ring gear is shot re-ringed it. That is cheap and you know it matches your engine, cost me about $18.00 to do my chevy wheel.

I pitched the motors including flywheels and flex plates. Did'nt know> I did however keep sheet metal and h/m bellhousings. everything else was shot Salt. I have two long blocks sitting in shrinkwrap as we speak along with two 270's i picked up on ebay. Performance difference's on 20-30lbs anyone i'm clueless.

I think your confusing flywheel weights with flywheel ballance. Lighter flywheels spin up faster store less energy... heaver spin up slower and store more energy. Flywheel ballance for a 302 Ford is either 28.2 oz or 50 oz. The 28 oz one is for 302 and 351W built before 1981. There are also 0 ballance flywheels for them but usally are only found on some real high end stuff.

turbo I PMed him on the difference, he needs to pull the pan and get the casting number of the cranks counter balance. Like you said Ford changed the crank balance configuration in 81. I spoke to my ford guy about it he can go direct to Ford and get the correct flywheels they are not that pricy.
