View Full Version : any v drives with 454 merc

thinking about putting a 454 mercury in my 68 v-drive i own the motor or i should say my best friend does and he says he wont wait 4 me to find a 427 h&m ford so he says we can use his motor i know there has been others with this combo need to know about motor mounts and bell housing connection

Lee: I have one of those cast aluminum timing covers with the legs on them for mounting the front of the motor to the stringers. Plenty of bellhousings around; check www.HotBoat.net
Let me know if you want pics.

I'm assuming you're running a LH prop, so the motor would mount with the flywheel forward. Do you have a velvet drive trans to mount to the bellhousing?

yes i have everything but the block and heads for the H&m

is there anything i need else to get this job done i have rebuilt 2 short blocks and installed in corvette's but have never done a boat hope i'm not being a bother
