I have an 1987 18' donzi with a 350 mag. I am having problems with the engine bogging when I put the hammer down. I am considering changing the carb to correct the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

at what rpm or acceleration cycle does the bog occur?

It seems the problem occurs most in the mid range at around 2500 rpm say when the secondaries open up

I have an 88 Minx/350 mag
with the same problem.
I tried adjusting the secondary spring, it got a little better but it is still there.

I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on a suitable replacement like a holley or edlebrock?:spit:

Mike, What brand are they? I have a 2 barrel holley ona Volvo Penta 5.0 liter. The motor has a 4 barrel intake and an adapter plate so I thiunking A 4 barrel would be an easy upgrade. What kinda cash you looking for and condition? They need rebuilt?

honestly... the quadrajet is going to give you fewer headaches than a holley... you'll also have to swap intakes or do an adapter plate which for all intensive purposes... stinks for performance... very likely you won't see any performance gain... the holley will probably drive you up a wall by the time all is said and done... the edelbrock performer is a lot less headache but you'll still have to do an intake or adapter...

go through the quadrajet, a kit is like 20 some bucks... they aren't very difficult a project if you have some mechanical aptitude and experience...
