from The Keeper...
The 1/20th scale ship was build from scratch, like a canoe, using 2.54 - 10.16 cm (1 - 4 in) bass wood strips covered in fiberglass. Estimated weight is 318 kg (700 lbs). The beam is 1.32 meters (52 in). The length is about 9.1 meters (30 feet). It can carry 2 people and is powered by a 15 hp (11.2 kw) outboard engine under the rear gun turret. It can sail 24 kilometers per hour (15 mph). While William cruises the lakes of Maine, he enjoys listening to Wagner, so he built in his own sound system. Construction time took 3 years, so far, and it's still not complete. He estimates it will require at least one more year of work to add the lifeboats, antiaircraft guns, railing, etc. The Commander-in-Chief pictured in the photographs is owner and builder.

It would be also very cool for it to meet up with this sub that Phil, aka MOP posted back in May of this year.
